Research a company

Use company search and profiles to establish what a company does, collect evidence and decide what to investigate next.

Find the right entity

Use the app's company search or open a company from a list, sourcing result or pipeline. Search with the company name or website domain. Confirm the website, location and business description before using the result: similarly named companies, subsidiaries and brands can represent different entities.

Open the profile and review the available sections. These can include company overview, offering, people, revenue, funding, locations, deal memos, fit analysis and activity. Information availability varies by company and source.

Review facts and evidence

Check the source and date of a material figure. Revenue estimates are not audited financial statements; a parent company's figure should not be attributed to a subsidiary. Verify currencies, periods and entity boundaries before comparing companies.

Use Analyst Q&A or the main Analyst for a question that needs explanation. For example:

Explain Northstar Packaging's product lines and customer segments. Identify which claims come from its own website and which come from other sources. List the questions that still require management confirmation.

For a transaction-specific analysis, add your own documents through Source Files, then reference them in the Analyst. Public research and confidential source material answer different parts of the diligence question.

Assess strategic fit

Use Fit Analysis where available and make sure the target profile reflects your actual acquisition criteria. Review the criteria before running a batch. A fit score is a screening aid: inspect the supporting rationale and unresolved evidence rather than treating the score as a decision.

Save relevant companies to a list for further research or to a pipeline for an active process. Check the destination and selected rows before a bulk action.

Keep the deal record connected

Company activity can bring together notes, captured emails and meetings. Captured communications become workspace content, so confirm the workspace and permissions before importing them. See Activity.

If a company cannot be found, try its domain, check spelling and remove unnecessary filters. If details remain unavailable, record the gap in your analysis instead of substituting an unrelated company or an unsupported estimate.
