# Monitor company signals

**Triggers** and trigger columns help you review events associated with companies, such as funding or leadership changes. Treat a signal as a reason to investigate, not as a verified transaction fact.

## Set up a trigger column

Open the intended company list or pipeline and choose **Add Trigger Column** where offered. Define the event you want to detect, including the time frame and what counts as a match. Review the selected companies and any cost preview before running a scan.

Use a specific criterion, for example: “A publicly announced appointment of a new chief executive within the last 90 days; include the announcement date and source.” Broad criteria can return noisy matches.

## Review results

Inspect the source, event date and company identity. A recently published article may describe an older event. Similar company names, reposted announcements and estimates need review before a signal becomes a deal action.

Use list-specific activity or the **Triggers** view to review detected events. Filters and the loaded time window affect what is displayed; an empty view does not establish that no relevant event occurred.

## Schedule monitoring

Where auto-refresh or trigger-scan scheduling is offered, configure it through the column controls and inspect the resulting rule in **Automation**. Verify its frequency, scope, credit use and any delivery settings.

Run a small initial scan and inspect its results before scheduling a broad recurring scan. Pause the automation if it repeatedly returns irrelevant events or fails.

## Act on useful signals

Record the confirmed finding and source in company activity, revise the relevant list or pipeline, and identify the next human action. Monitoring does not automatically establish that a company is for sale or that contacting a person is appropriate.
