# Manage a deal pipeline

A pipeline organizes opportunities into stages. Use it to see the current process, keep company context together and decide the next action.

## Choose the board

Open **Pipeline** and select the intended pipeline. Where permitted, use **New Pipeline** to create another board. Give it a name that distinguishes the process or mandate it represents.

Set up the stages and their meaning before adding a large set of targets. A board with no stages cannot display opportunities in a meaningful process. Use its settings or stage controls to create the structure appropriate to your team.

## Add opportunities

Add selected companies from a list or sourcing results, or use the pipeline's import controls. For imports, review mapped columns, stage assignments, values and duplicate handling before confirming. Validate a small sample first when importing an unfamiliar spreadsheet.

Open a card or row to inspect the company and related context. Keep ownership, stage, notes and any values or expected closing dates current using the controls available on your board.

## Update and review the board

Use the board or table view to inspect opportunities. Change a stage using the available card or row controls. A stage move can trigger an enabled automation, so check stage automation rules before making bulk changes.

Use filters to focus on a subset. The displayed totals may distinguish **Board total** from **Filtered total**. Weighted values depend on the values and probability settings entered; they are not forecasts guaranteed by the platform. Check currency and period assumptions before reporting them.

Connect deal memos, company research and recorded activity to the opportunity. Do not assume a status change documents the underlying diligence decision—record the rationale in the relevant memo or activity entry.

## Share and automate

Workspace administrators can grant viewers access to selected boards. Check the board access and visible stages intended for that viewer. See [Workspaces and roles](https://docs.corpdev.ai/corpdev.ai-docs/workspaces-and-roles).

Stage automation can run when an opportunity enters, leaves or remains in a stage, or when run manually. Review scope, action and recipients before enabling a rule. See [Automation](https://docs.corpdev.ai/corpdev.ai-docs/run-recurring-and-event-based-work).

## Missing opportunities

Check the selected workspace, board, filters and archived view. If the page reports it could not load the pipeline, resolve that error before assuming the board is empty. A viewer with no assigned board needs an administrator to grant access.
